fluoride treatment

Fluoride is a natural substance that strengthens the teeth and molars and provides extra protection against dental decay and cavities. Fluoride ensures that during an acidic attack of bacteria less enamel is removed, which can prevent cavities.

It is a good idea to come in semi-annually for a preventive fluoride treatment as soon as your child grows its first teeth. This fluoride treatment can be done through a gel or by applying a special fluoride lacquer to the teeth and molars. The concentration of fluoride is a bit higher in the latter. Fluoride lacquer can also be applied very precisely on spots where cavities threaten to occur. If for example we find at a family appointment that your child has many (incipient) cavities or if there are other risk factors, a semi-annual fluoride treatment is simply necessary to protect the young dentition.
