Implantology and bone remodeling

implantology and bone remodeling

If you are missing one or more teeth, an implant (artificial root) is an excellent choice. After drilling a hole in the jaw, the dentist will insert the implant. It it possible to fix all new teeth and molars on top of implants. And even traditional dentures can be replaced by a modern apple-proof version.  Placing an implant is a surgical procedure that is performed under local anaesthetic.

After loosing a tooth or molar the jawbone will start to shrink at that spot. If there is not enough bone left to place an implant, artificial bone can be used to rebuild the jaw. At dental practice Van de Veer this bone reconstructive work is executed by our dentist Leonoor van Marrewijk, who specialises in this type of dentistry.
