Gums surround and protect the alveolar bone plus the roots of the teeth and molars. This means that healthy gums are also important for a good appearance and fresh breath. Plaque on teeth and molars causes inflammation on the edge of the gums at first. This inflammation sometimes spreads unnoticed (Periodontitis) and the alveolar bone around the teeth and molars is destroyed as a consequence.

This can be prevented by regular visits to our dental hygienist or prevention assistant. By having teeth effectively cleaned under the gums and by carefully following the relevant brushing instructions, worse can be averted.

At dental practice Van de Veer periodontology is the field and specialism of Sandra Willemstein. Under her expert hands periodontitis is halted and worse is prevented.
